Clinical Therapist

Shekyra DeCree, LPCC-S is a licensed professional clinical counselor dedicated to providing hope, education, and empowerment to everyone she encounters.  While her undergraduate degree is in Broadcast Journalism from The Ohio State University, she discovered her passion to help the hurting while pursuing a broadcasting career in Central Ohio’s television and radio news arena. 

Shekyra received her master’s degree in Community Counseling from the University of Dayton in 2007 and has been blessed with the honor to serve others through counseling and social service support.  Shekyra worked as a clinical therapist for The Wexner Medical Center, at the Ohio State University’s Talbot Hall – Drug and Alcohol Treatment Center where she led a Women’s Intensive Outpatient treatment program, has counseled youth in various school and community settings, offered services (individual, couples and family counseling) in a private practice she founded, called Center for Hope, Help, and Healing, and conducts state mental health assessments for the geriatric population for the Ohio Department of Mental Health. 

 

She is currently pursuing her PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision at Ohio University. Her research focuses on how to best promote holistic health and wellness in minority populations.  She currently co-owns a Central Ohio fitness enterprise (Divine Impact Fitness) aimed at promoting holistic health and wellness. Shekyra’s clinical areas of expertise are treatment of depression and anxiety disorders, women’s issues, LGBTQ issues, teen/adolescent counseling, drug and alcohol addiction, marriage and family counseling, and trauma related issues.

 

Shekyra is thrilled to join the Key Counseling staff, and looks forward to serving the Central Ohio community, promoting mental health and wellness.
